3 killed in 'Shootout' in Dhaka. RAB 10 and Police involved

By Bangladesh Media; Three more people were killed in reported incidents of ‘gunfight’ at Kadamtali in the city and at Savar in the outskirt of the capital on Monday.
Of them, two were killed by the Rapid Action Battalion in a ‘gunfight’ in a house at Kadamtali in Dhaka in the afternoon and the other was killed by the police in a ‘gunfight’ on Dhaka-Aricha highway at Savar in the early morning.The battalion claimed that two abduction suspects were killed in a ‘gunfight’ in a house at Kadamtali in the afternoon.The battalion’s legal and media wing deputy director Rumman Mahmud said that on information, a battalion team raided a house at Kadamtali to rescue some ‘kidnapped’ people. 
Sensing the presence of the elite force, the abduction suspects opened fire at the battalion personnel who retaliated by opening fire leaving suspects Sangram Chowdhury, 45, and Mohammad Owasim, 50, injured.They were rushed to Mitford Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries, Rumman said.Mitford Hospital doctors said that Sangram and Mohammad were declared dead after they had been rushed to the hospital.The battalion three members of the battalion were also injured in the ‘gunfight’.At a briefing, RAB-10 commanding officer Khandker Golam Sarwar said that they rescued four abducted people — Akhter, 42, Rana, 18, Jonny, 24, and Jahangir, 28, — from the house.Sarwar said that there were four members of the gang and two of them managed to go away. ‘They frequently kidnap people for ransom,’ Sarwar added. 
One of the people kidnapped, Jonny, said that he was abducted on Sunday from Signboard area in Narayanganj and the ring demanded Tk one lakh. As he refused to pay the ransom, they tortured him.Mohammad’s son Ali Hossain denied the allegation saying that his father was a businessman of CNG-run auto-rickshaws and the battalion personnel shot him from close distance without any offense.   RAB official said that the battalion found two pistols at the spot.The police claimed that a robbery suspect was killed in a ‘gunfight’ on Dhaka-Aricha highway at Savar onearly Monday.Savar police officer-in-charge Mostafa Kamal said that the police raided Ramchandrapur area on information that a gang of robbers was preparing for robbery.  The ‘gunfight’ took place at about 2:30am when as a patrol team led by sub-inspector Rafiqul Islam saw the gang of 10-12 people sitting on the Dhaka-Aricha highway.As the police challenged them, the robbery suspect exploded three crude bombs and opened fire at the law enforcers prompting the gunfight, said Mostafa.During the fight, a robbery suspect sustained bullet injuries while his fellows fled the scene.The injured robbery suspect was rushed to Savar upazila health complex where the doctors declared him dead, said Mostafa.The identity of the man killed, however, could not be established.The police recovered three crude bombs and two sharp weapons from the spot, Mostafa said.Rafiqul also sustained injuries during the incident and he was now undergoing treatment at Enam Medical College Hospital, said the police.
